Lice On Clothes

It is very rare to see lice crawling around on clothing because lice needs to live on a head among a hair where the temperature is a constant, the humidity is high, where they can lay their eggs that get glued to the hair shafts, and where there is a presence of blood for their them to suck for their food. If they are off the host head they cannot survive and will die within 24 to 48 hours from dehydration and lack of food. Their six claws are designed to grab onto a hair shaft and crawl around the hair. Their claws are not designed to move around clothing so they don’t like it-they do not feel comfortable. Although they can be seen on clothing, it is very rare. It typically occurs if they come off during regular combing or when they get knocked off the scalp when they are trying to crawl to another host head.
